World Port Days 2025
Black Box - European Union Pavilion
A spatial video experience created for the European Union Pavilion during World Port Days in Rotterdam. The piece functions as an immersive preview that introduces visitors to the themes and innovations presented inside the pavilion.
The concept is built around a virtual flight around the Earth, guiding viewers past a series of recognizable objects connected to port activity, sustainability, and technological innovation. Elements such as ships, recycling machines, mung bean plants, and other symbolic objects represent topics showcased within the European Pavilion.
To enhance the sense of presence, the visuals are paired with spatial audio. As visitors travel through the environment, objects passing by are accompanied by directional sound, creating the sensation that they move through the physical space of the black box installation. By aligning movement, perspective, and sound, the experience reinforces the relationship between what visitors see and what they hear.
The project explores how spatial sound and visual motion can work together to create a cohesive immersive introduction, offering visitors a sensory preview of the exhibition before entering the pavilion.
