Somewhere beyond sight, an immortal watches you.

Angel is a short VR experience created during an intensive one-week group project in which we set out to experiment with new technical and audio approaches. The goal was to explore how sound, animation, and environmental design could work together to create the sensation of a looming presence
watching the participant.
The experience places the viewer inside a stylized, surreal environment populated by numerous eyes that subtly follow the user’s movement.
Through animation systems and spatial composition, the environment continuously reacts to the participant’s presence, reinforcing the feeling of being constantly observed. When the central “ethereal boss” figure appears, the behavior of these elements shifts: the eyes abruptly redirect their gaze toward it, creating a sudden collective focus that intensifies the sense of a higher power entering the space.
Lighting and atmosphere also play a key role in shaping the experience. A custom gradient in the environment ensures that the participant always appears to move through shadow, subtly obscuring the space and strengthening the sense of unease. This technique helps maintain the impression that something may always be hidden just beyond sight.
Inspired by the themes of unseen observers in Der Himmel über Berlin by Wim Wenders, the project translates this idea into an interactive spatial form.
The models and animations were intentionally designed with a specific visual language to evoke an otherworldly presence, stylized forms, slow movements, and surreal proportions that blur the line between beauty and discomfort.
By combining experimental sound work with reactive environmental design, Angel explores how technical systems in VR can be used to evoke the unsettling sensation of being watched by something beyond perception.
